Proof That it Takes All Kinds

Hear my radio show that caused a listener to call me disgusting, a fraud and a disgrace -- no kidding. They didn't call in, but their thoughts were posted in the chatroom. Sadly, the person's user name included Hillary - its sad to see someone acting like that and associating it with Hillary. This person obviously didn't hear the very good things we mentioned in the beginning about Hillary Clinton and anyone who read Earl Ofari Hutchinson's columns knows he is a staunch Hillary supporter. Race is Creeping Back into Election Conversations - Do You Know The History?

The Ethnic Presidency: How Race Decides the Race to the White House – Will Race and Ethnicity Decide the Presidency?

Any way you look at it, this is a historic political season. Whether the next president is a Democrat or a Republican, there will be a “first” in the new administration. The first black president or the first woman vice president will be elected. The media and the internet are buzzing with the possibilities.

Race and politics is an interesting and sometimes explosive combination. This topic is the focus of Earl Ofari Hutchinson’s book The Ethnic Presidency: How Race Decides the Race to the White House. Throughout this election year, we have all seen the news reports, the specials, the debates and much more that addresses the questions and curiosity about race and politics. More specifically, what it would mean to have an African American president in the white house.

Race isn’t a new issue in politics and The Ethnic Presidency delves into a vast array of details from the past three decades to demonstrate the difference race and ethnicity makes in any election. Race is a much bigger factor in the 2008 election than it has been in past elections.

For an inside view at the history of race in politics, take a deeper look into The Ethnic Presidency. This book is a must have for political junkies who follow each election, but it is also a great primer for the millions of first time voters who would like to understand more about the people and the elements of this election year and elections in the past. Get a real look at the way each political party used race and ethnicity to further their agenda through the years.

It examines:

Obamamania

The soaring Latino vote

The silent but potent Asian-American vote

The GOP’s love-hate relationship with black and Latino America

Will America accept a black president? Can Obama be that president?

Will the GOP use the same Southern Strategy that repeatedly won the White House?

Did blacks and Latinos elect Bush?

Have the Democrats taken the black and Latino vote for granted?

Earl Ofari Hutchinson Predicted Race Could Sink Democratic Candidate, Barack Obama

In his Explosive New Book The Ethnic Presidency: How Race decides the Race to the White House political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson Says that Race Could Sink Obama in White House Drive

Description: Author and political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson predicted in his new book, The Ethnic Presidency: How Race decides the Race to the White House that race could sink Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama

Los Angeles, Ca. U.S. April 30, 2008

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s abysmal failure to get major support from white workers, and rural white voters in major states, the racially inflammatory controversy surrounding his former pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and his so-called race speech laying out his views on race in America are daunting examples of how race has dogged the footsteps of Obama throughout his drive for the White House.

The great racial divide, says author and political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson, in The Ethnic Presidency: How Race decides the Race to the White House is no surprise. Hutchinson makes a compelling case in his book that race has always been a subtle subtext to presidential politics going back to the presidential campaign of GOP standard bearer Barry Goldwater in 1964. The campaign themes such as states rights, crime in the streets, the assault on big government, slashing social programs, affirmative action, the forgotten middle class, and welfare elimination have been played on by presidents and presidential aspirants that include Goldwater, Reagan, Bush Sr., Carter and Clinton to get white votes, says Hutchinson in The Ethnic Presidency.

Hutchinson further predicts in The Ethnic Presidency: How Race decides the Race to the White House that race will continue to be a thorny issue and problem for Obama if he gets the Democratic presidential nomination. The Wright controversy, his liberal advocacy of affirmative action and racial parity will continue to be subtly and overtly reviled on the campaign trail. It will surface in hit ads on him. Race won’t sink his candidacy, says Hutchinson, but it will be a tormenting worry for Obama and the Democratic Party.
